Kia has officially announced the launch of an updated Kia EV6 at the Los Angeles International Auto Show.
According to certain reports, the stated version arrives bearing updated front and rear designs, enhanced premium interior touches, and newly packaged trim levels, all of it complemented by greater number of features and amenities,
Talk about this new model on a slightly deeper level, we begin from how it is decked up with Kia’s signature Star Map lighting which shapes the new headlights and DRLs so to give the car a high-tech look with wing-like graphics that help create a wider, as well as a more dynamic appearance.
Furthermore, the front bumper is understood to carve up sharper angles, whereas on the other hand, character lines on the hood do the work of bringing contrast and depth to the overall front design. The model also enjoys new wheel designs, designs that are available in 19- to 21-inch sizes, depending on the trim level.
On the inside, the EV6’s horizontal design theme enhances the cabin’s wide, open feel. Its driver-centric layout features a standard curved dual 12.3-inch display which seamlessly integrates the instrument cluster and center screen to offer an immersive visual experience.
Another detail worth a mention here is how the new EV6 draws its basis from the award-winning EV9 to provide customers with a D-shaped steering wheel, and an updated center console, backed by a sleek new finish. Each of these components, like you can guess, treads up a long distance in the context of conceiving an elevated high-tech, and sporty aesthetic.
Moving on, the 2024 EV6 Light Long Range also boasts larger battery options. This translates to a standard 63.0 kWh battery paired with one rear motor, which on its part, would be well-equipped to produce 167 hp and 258 lb.-ft. of torque. The available 84.0 kWh battery has a targeted to all-electric range of 319 miles in Light LR, Wind, and GT-Line trims with RWD configuration.
While we are on the prospect of battery, we must also shed light upon a detail which has EV6 bestowing you with an ultra-fast 800-volt DC charging system. In fact, to make charging more convenient, the charge port (excluding EV6 GT models) has been relocated to the left rear fender and is compatible with the North American Charging Standard. In case that wasn’t enough, then we must mention how EV6 also introduces improvements to its Integrated Converter Control Unit (ICCU), boasting increased output density.
“We are incredibly proud of the success the EV6 has achieved since its launch,” said Steven Center, COO and EVP, Kia America. “The EV6 represents Kia’s forward-thinking approach to electrification, and with this refreshed model, we are excited to build on that success by offering even more style, technology, and features that our customers will love. We can’t wait to see how this next chapter of the EV6 continues to drive excitement and push boundaries in the EV market.”
Apart from that, the vehicle offers you enhanced ride and handling through what would be an improved steering response, which stems from a belt-type steering column. Alongside this, an electric tilt & telescopic column conceives convenience for the driver.
Among other things, the rejuvenated EV6 features Kia’s next-gen Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC) operating system with faster processing, higher fidelity, and over-the-air (OTA) updates to keep yourEV6 up to date with the latest software related to the powertrain, navigation, and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). Not just that, thanks to the new Kia Connect Store, the vehicle is also able to offer a number of available digital features and services designed to fine-tune in-vehicle entertainment and connectivity, including video and music streaming, gaming, and a Wi-Fi Hotspot.
Joining that would be an ultrawideband-based Digital Key 2.0 which allows customers to use their compatible smart devices or an NFC-enabled smart card as virtual vehicle keys to lock, unlock, and drive. The idea behind that is to let the drive unlock their EV6 without having to hold their smartphone.
