SAP is set to launch SAP® Connected Goods Software and the SAP Dynamic Edge Processing server. The two new innovative Internet of Things (IoT) solutions enables the SAP customers to connect large volumes of IoT gadgets and real-time sensor data to core business processes for better business outcomes including relatively low bandwidth fares, upgraded visibility & insight and boosted revenue generation options.
“With these new IoT solutions, we are enabling a new level of business innovation and operational value from IoT devices practically anywhere, on a mass-market scale, across industries,” said Tanja Rueckert, executive vice president, Digital Assets and IoT, SAP. “By extending SAP’s digital core and processing capabilities to the intelligent edge, where device sensor data originates, enterprises can minimize latency, enhance operational efficiency and accelerate decision making to optimize data-driven insights.”
SAP Connected Goods
According to trade association’s estimation, the number of vending machines across Europe alone exceeds a whopping 3.74 million with assets and revenue potential valued at billions of euros. Having such staggering numbers, companies can’t afford the lost sale expenses, missed revenue generation opportunities or unhappy customers emerging from unused, incurable and misplaced gadgets.
SAP Connected Goods, a cloud-based solution on SAP HANA®Cloud Platform designed in pursuance of magnifying the worth of mass-market instruments such as coolers, vending machines and power tools via remote surveillance, regulation and central control. Ensuring sufficient stock levels and convenient storage, SAP Connected Goods optimizes gadget availability, usage and performance. It identifies suitable gadget trends and usage structure leaning on rule-based notifications for goods replenishment and creates custom dashboards with in-built integration for SAP BusinessObjects™ Cloud solution. It addresses a wide array of mass-market devies across outlets ranging from gas stations to retail stores, pharmacies to construction sites and allows alternative business models such as product-as-a-service (PaaS) to attract fresh customers based on product usage patterns and customer behaviour insights.
SAP Dynamic Edge Processing
In the digital operation data is bulking exponentially among the billions of smart instruments that connect people with information and things resulting in companies experiencing volumes that are capable of overrunning bandwidth essential to reverse the data to core processing centers. The best way to cut down transmission costs while managing the value of real-time insights is to process more data at the edge where gadgets reside outside of the data center.
To bridge physical “things” with the business world SAP Dynamic Edge processing supports a secure and managed platform. It enhances real-time IoT decision making with business context at the knowledgeable edge and makes perfect use of operations by making edge assets and workers function efficiently. In addition, it separates the highly critical data that needs to be transferred onto the core IoT system whilst handling other data locally from its place of origin. It fuses algorithms, syncing architecture and optimized database technology with facilities for gadget connectivity & on boarding, offline operation, data skimming, local application platform, immediate response and local storage.
SAP Connected Goods and SAP Dynamic Edge Processing enriches operational efficiency by circulating the processing of data between the edge and the centralized cloud solution while implemented at the same time. SAP Dynamic Edge Processing’s ability to analyze incoming data, to run business rules at the edge and provoke instant follow-up actions enables it to reduce the overall network traffic and enhances the quality of data that is sent for processing by SAP Connected Goods and thus enabling relatively better device surveillance.
