Tapping into the AR Space Just Got Easier than Ever Before

Human beings are known for a myriad of different things, but most importantly, they are known for getting better on a consistent basis. This progressive tendency, on our part, has already got us to hit upon some huge milestones, with technology appearing as a rather unique member of the group. The reason why technology’s credentials are so anomalous is focused upon its skill-set, which was unprecedented enough to realize all the possibilities for us that nobody could have ever imagined otherwise. Nevertheless, if we dig a little deeper, it should quickly become clear how the whole runner was also very much inspired by the way we applied those skills across a real-world environment. The latter component was, in fact, what gave the creation a spectrum-wide presence and made it the ultimate centrepiece of every horizon. Having such an ingenious piece run the show expectantly scaled up the human experience from every conceivable direction, but even after reaching so far ahead, this prodigious concept called technology will somehow continue to bring out the right goods. The same has turned increasingly evident over the recent past, except Apple’s latest plan might just make that trend much more solid for the future and beyond.

According to report from The Information, Apple is actively working on a methodology, which will make it possible for anyone to develop AR apps by using the company’s famous voice assistant, Siri. Conceived on the intention of complementing Apple’s upcoming mixed reality headset, the stated technology could “allow users to build an app with virtual animals moving around a room and over or around real-life objects without the need to design the animal from scratch, program its animations and calculate its movement in a 3D space with obstacles.” However, if further details are to be believed, then there will also be a non-Siri version. The latter avenue will likely draw inspiration from games like Roblox and Minecraft, as both have found enormous success in empowering users to build their virtual worlds. Another detail worth mentioning here is how, in order to help people create 3D models for apps, Apple is also looking at a way that can let you scan real-world objects with its headset.

“With the software tools, Apple hopes that even people who don’t know computer code could tell the headset, via the Siri voice assistant, to build an AR app that could then be made available via Apple’s App Store for others to download. The tool, for example, could allow users to build an app with virtual animals moving around a room and over or around real-life objects without the need to design the animal from scratch, program its animations and calculate its movement in a 3D space with obstacles,” stated The Information.

Focusing a bit more on Apple’s attempts to enhance the new headset’s utility, the company already has a content strategy in place for the device, with its primary focus being health and wellness.

“People familiar with Apple’s content strategy for the headset say Apple executives are emphasizing health and wellness including proposals for AR apps that assist with meditation and exercise. One early AR demo allowed users to sit inside a Zen garden, the four people said,” the report claimed.

This goal, in particular, is understood be a by-product of the success various fitness-focused apps have enjoyed on Meta’s Quest headset.

Talk about when is Apple’s headset arriving, though, it is set to hit the market in the latter stages of 2023. The headset is expected to have an iOS-like interface with dedicated a grid of apps,  advanced eye and hand tracking, and the ability to function as an external display for a Mac.
