Human beings might have proven themselves to be good at a myriad of different things, but there still remains an awful little that we do better than growing on a consistent basis. This tendency to get better, under all possible circumstances, has brought the world some huge milestones, with technology emerging as quite a major member of the group. The reason why we hold technology in such a high regard is, by and large, predicated upon its skill-set, which guided us towards a reality that nobody could have ever imagined otherwise. Nevertheless, if we look up beyond the surface for one hot second, it will become abundantly clear how the whole runner was also very much inspired from the way we applied those skills across a real world environment. The latter component, in fact, did a lot to give the creation a spectrum-wide presence, and as a result, initiated a full-blown tech revolution. Of course, the next thing this revolution did was to scale up the human experience through some outright unique avenues, but even after achieving a feat so notable, technology will somehow continue to bring forth the right goods. The same has turned more and more evident in recent times, and assuming one new discovery ends up with the desired impact, it will only put that trend on a higher pedestal moving forward.
Briggs and Stratton, a Wisconsin based manufacturing company, has officially unveiled a line of Vanguard Commercial Lithium-Ion Battery Packs. According to certain reports, these packs come decked up with an ability to offer both fixed and swappable configurations, a feature which means they should realize greater power but also mandate a reduced need for maintenance. Talk about the whole development on a granular level, it will stir up to the fore an all-new 24V 3.5kWh Battery boasting the means to leverage lithium-ion chemistry for safe and powerful performance. You see, given its ability to thrive at 24V level, the battery offers an attractive prospect in terms of simplifying the integration process for existing OEM applications utilizing lead-acid batteries. Such a technology is expected to seamlessly power construction equipment like boom lifts, floor scrubbers, sweepers, cranes, environmental systems, and other similar systems that require a lot of energy. Next up, we have Vanguard 1.5kWh Commercial Battery (Si1.5). Promising versatility and reliability over everything else, this one, as a unique proposition, has an exchangeable design, which allows the user to swap it between equipment or equipment and charger on the jobsite. Another detail worth a mention would be how the Si1.5 Battery also incorporates technology elements like the integrated BMS so to generate better durability during relatively tougher assignments. Alongside the stated batteries, Briggs and Stratton will also put on the offer 3.5kWh, 5kWh and 7kWh Fi Series Batteries that are, although slightly different in their nature, given a similar diecast aluminum enclosure to provide protection during in various challenging environments. Not just the external environment, though, the versatility of these Vanguard batteries also helps them to meet varying power application needs, considering they can be paralleled for multiple capacities and voltages. Hold on, we aren’t done. The battery packs further feature two customizable CANbus networks that integrate with legacy systems, and joining the same is a prequalified and plug-in-ready sharing system which can be mounted on or off-board at user’s discretion.
Briggs and Stratton took this opportunity to also expand its product line to include motors and motor controllers. Offering OEMs a full-fledged system package, the new controllers help the company to meet electrification needs across applications, including compact equipment like blowers, walk-behind trowels, pumps, sprayers, power rakes, and more. The motor controllers brought into the mix are MVG1500, MVG2200, MVG4000 motors, MC2000, MC4000, and MC8000.
“Integrating a power solution into a piece of equipment requires a scalable approach — especially when it comes to electrified equipment. By adding motors and motor controllers to our portfolio, we’ll be able to better support original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) looking to electrify their equipment with a powerful complete system,” said David Frank, vice president of electrification at Briggs and Stratton. “With this new offering, we are in an even better position to serve as a strategic partner to OEMs as we help them navigate the electrification process and meet their battery power goals.”
