Siemens Digital Industries Software has officially introduced two new solutions in HEEDS™ AI Simulation Predictor software and Simcenter™ Reduced Order Modeling software, to revamp the way engineering simulation is done today. Let’s begin from Siemens’ HEEDS AI Simulation Predictor, which comes bearing the means to explore better prospects for manufacturers, and it does so through what is an advanced AI-driven predictive modeling. Hence, owing to the AI-heavy setup backing this predictor, it can optimize any given product with utmost precision. Next up, it can also tap into historical simulation studies and other related bits of knowledge for helping engineering teams craft high-performing and innovative designs, while simultaneously bringing down the time it would usually take to send the product to market. Another detail worth a mention about Siemens’ Heeds AI Simulation Predictor is concerned with how it solves the infamous AI drift challenge. You see, one of the most significant challenges in AI-powered simulation is AI drift, where models extrapolate inaccurately when faced with uncharted design spaces. Fortunately enough, the Simulation Predictor in question did have an answer here, an answer for which we must go back to the simulator’s precision capabilities. In simple terms, Siemens gave its brainchild accuracy-aware AI which can now prove useful when it comes to conducting self-verification of predictions, and apart from that, empowering engineers to conceive simulations that are not only accurate but also reliable in the context of real-world industrial engineering applications.
“With HEEDS AI Simulation Predictor, we have significantly improved various components of the gas turbine, leading to highly optimized designs and accelerated design cycles,” said Behnam Nouri, Team Lead of Engineering & Platform Design at Siemens Energy. “Our thermo-mechanical fatigue predictions have been effectively upgraded to process ~20,000 design members in only 24 hours, yielding a 20% improvement in component lifetime. This has allowed us to fully characterize the limits of our existing design space which is required for high-efficiency turbine engines. The HEEDS AI Simulation Predictor technology has enabled us to save over 15,000 hours of computational time.”
Moving on to our second product in the Simcenter Reduced Order Modeling software that lets you bank upon high-fidelity simulation and test data to train and validate AI/ML models. Once the said training and validation is provided, these models make it possible for engineering teams to perform predictions in a fraction of a second, thus transforming the way they approach simulation. This one also, by combining robust, reliable, and trustworthy insights with unmatched speed, is able to play a big role in eliminating the highly prevalent issue of AI drift.
“Simcenter Reduced Order Modeling lets us accelerate our simulation models to the point where a detailed fuel cell plant model runs faster than real time, with the same accuracy as a full system model,” said Jurgen Dedeurwaerder, Simulation Engineer of Plastic Omnium. “This enables activities such as model-in-the-loop controller development and testing to be done faster, shortening the overall development cycle by around 25%. At the same time, it gives us a reliable, IP protected, and cost-effective way to distribute models to other teams, both internally and to our customers to augment their own products and processes, resulting in better quality products delivered to end users.”
