With its first all-electric vehicle, the British luxury carmaker combines powerful performance, handcrafted interiors and fast charging to attract a new generation of buyers
Seoul, 15 October 2026 – Bentley has taken a major step into electric mobility with the Asia Pacific debut of its first fully electric vehicle, the Torcal, in Seoul, South Korea. The new luxury SUV marks a significant change for the British carmaker, which has built its reputation on powerful engines, elegant designs and handcrafted interiors. With the Torcal, Bentley aims to bring these familiar qualities into the electric vehicle market while attracting customers who may not have considered the brand before.
Starting at 330 million South Korean won, approximately US$245,000, the Torcal is the most accessible model in Bentley’s current lineup. In Singapore, its starting price is S$985,000, excluding the Certificate of Entitlement and optional features. Smaller and less expensive than the Bentayga SUV, the new model is designed to appeal to buyers upgrading from luxury vehicles offered by brands such as BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Porsche. Bentley sees this as an opportunity to reach a broader audience without moving away from its premium positioning.
The Torcal is available in two versions, a standard model and the sportier S variant. Both use dual electric motors and offer All Wheel Drive. The standard version produces 604 kilowatts of power, while the S version delivers 653 kilowatts. The faster model can accelerate from zero to 100 kilometres per hour in just 2.9 seconds, demonstrating that electric mobility can deliver the performance expected from an ultra-luxury vehicle.
Battery capacity and charging speed are also central to the new model. The Torcal comes with a 113 kilowatt-hour battery and a claimed driving range of up to 600 kilometres. Its 800 volt electrical system supports charging from 10 per cent to 80 per cent in around 16 minutes when connected to a compatible 400-kilowatt direct current fast charger. These features are intended to make everyday driving and longer journeys more convenient for owners.
Inside, Bentley has combined traditional craftsmanship with a stronger focus on material innovation. The cabin features specially developed Merino wool fabric and decorative finishes made using walnut wood offcuts and recycled craft paper. These materials give the interior a distinctive appearance while reflecting the growing interest in sustainable luxury. The company has also developed a unique driving sound inspired by its traditional V8 engines, using musical elements to create an experience suited to an electric vehicle.
The launch comes as luxury carmakers explore how to balance electric technology with customer expectations. While electric vehicles have gained ground in several market segments, some high-end buyers remain attached to the sound and character of petrol-powered cars. Bentley is responding by focusing on design, comfort, craftsmanship and performance rather than treating electrification as a change in powertrain alone.
Orders for the Torcal have opened in South Korea, with deliveries expected in late 2027. Other Asia Pacific markets are expected to follow. For Bentley, the model represents an important opportunity to reach new customers and establish a stronger position in the growing luxury electric SUV market.
