The human arsenal is surely expansive beyond all known limits, but it is still yet to possess anything more valuable than that tendency of ours to grow on a consistent basis. This is, by and large, because the stated tendency has already enabled us to hit upon some huge milestones, with technology appearing as a rather unique member of the group. The reason why technology’s credentials are so anomalous is down to its skill-set, which was unique enough to guide us towards a reality that nobody could have ever imagined otherwise. Nevertheless, if we look a little bit closer, it should become clear how the whole runner was also very much inspired by the way we applied those skills across a real-world environment. The latter component was, in fact, what gave the creation a spectrum-wide presence and made it the ultimate centrepiece of every horizon. Having such an ingenious tool run the show, of course, scaled up the human experience from every conceivable direction, but even after reaching so far ahead, the prodigious concept of technology will somehow continue to bring all the right goods to the table. The same has grown to become a lot more evident in recent times, and assuming Meta’s latest move pans out just like envisioned, it should only make that trend bigger and better moving forward.
Meta is officially set to give its virtual reality bid, Meta Quest, a new fitness edge, and it will do so by introducing two particular features. According to certain reports, the first feature is Google’s Health Connect integration, which will allow Android users to link their Quest Move VR workouts with Google Fit. In order to make the integration active, users must access the settings menu of the VR Move app and toggle on “Connect Move to Meta Quest Mobile App.” Next up, you need to visit the Meta Quest phone app, navigate to the Connected Apps tab, and toggle on “Health Connect by Android” Once that is done, the last step would be to hand out the relevant permissions for Active Calories Burned and Exercise. This, of course, simultaneously raises the question of data privacy, but going by Meta’s word, a user’s Move stats will only be sent to Meta servers if they choose to sync their stats with the Meta Quest app. Nevertheless, even if you choose to share your data, it will not be used for any targeted ads. Still, though, such APIs do come with their unique terms and conditions that you must sign off on to gain core access.
The second new feature launched by Meta is the option to pair your Bluetooth heart monitor with the virtual world, and as a result, view all your states in real time. Talk about what monitors are, at the moment, compatible with Quest Headset, they include Garmin HRM-Dual, Polar H10, and more. Interestingly enough, other devices like smartwatches may also do the job.
With the likes of HealthKit, Health Connect, Strava, Peloton, Apple, and others, already present in the heart rate monitoring space, it’s no surprise for Meta to also want a piece of the piece. Beyond that, the move especially becomes understandable when you consider the company’s ambition to make Metaverse mainstream sooner rather than later.
