Stellantis introduces its compact electric vehicle to the U.S., offering a practical and budget-friendly option for short-distance travel.
Detroit, Michigan, 16 July 2026 – As electric vehicles continue to evolve, Stellantis is introducing a fresh approach to urban mobility with the launch of the Fiat Topolino in the United States. Unlike traditional electric cars designed for highways and long-distance travel, the Topolino is built for short daily trips, private communities, resorts, campuses, and neighborhood transportation.
The Fiat Topolino is a compact two-seater electric vehicle that combines retro-inspired styling with modern zero-emission technology. Measuring just around eight feet in length and weighing slightly over 1,000 pounds, the vehicle is designed to make city driving and short-distance commuting simple, efficient, and affordable.
One of the biggest attractions of the Topolino is its affordable price. With a starting price of $13,995, it offers an entry point into electric mobility for consumers looking for an economical transportation solution. The vehicle delivers a driving range of up to 46 miles on a single charge and can be fully charged in about five hours using a standard household power outlet.
Initially, the Topolino is intended for use in locations such as resorts, golf communities, university campuses, and private neighborhoods. Later, owners will have the option to upgrade the vehicle with a Low Speed Vehicle kit, allowing it to travel at speeds of up to 25 mph on selected public roads where regulations permit.
The launch reflects a growing interest in compact electric vehicles that prioritize convenience over size. As traffic congestion increases and parking space becomes more limited in urban areas, smaller EVs are emerging as practical alternatives for everyday transportation. Rather than competing with traditional passenger cars, vehicles like the Topolino are creating a new category focused on local mobility.
Stellantis is also using the Topolino to strengthen Fiat’s presence in the U.S. electric vehicle market. The company believes there is growing demand for affordable, efficient vehicles that meet the needs of short-distance travel while supporting the shift toward cleaner transportation.
The introduction of the Topolino highlights how the electric vehicle industry is expanding beyond high-performance and luxury models. Manufacturers are increasingly exploring compact, accessible solutions that make electric mobility available to a wider range of consumers. As cities continue investing in sustainable transportation and low-emission mobility, vehicles like the Topolino could become an important part of future urban transport.
While it may be one of the smallest electric vehicles on the road, the Fiat Topolino represents a significant step toward affordable and practical electric mobility, demonstrating that innovation in the EV market is not always about building bigger vehicles but smarter ones.
